On folds where a panel tucks inside the others, like a tri-fold or gate fold, that inner panel is made about 1/16 inch narrower so it doesn’t bind or buckle when folded. Thicker paper needs a little more allowance.
Both use three panels on one sheet. A tri-fold (letter fold) wraps the panels over each other, so one folds inside; a z-fold pleats them like an accordion, so all three panels are equal and none tucks in.
Most brochures start from a flat 8.5 by 11 inch or 11 by 17 inch sheet. Tell us the finished look you want and we’ll set up the panels, folds, and bleed correctly.
