A #10 (4.125 by 9.5 inches) is the standard business envelope and holds an 8.5 by 11 inch letter folded in thirds. A #9 reply envelope fits inside a #10. For unfolded sheets or booklets, step up to a 6 by 9, 9 by 12, or catalog size.
